WHAT IF THE DEVIL WANTED TO REPENT?

In February 2007, I spent a couple of weeks in Sanford, NC doing a film entitled, "The Ultimate Case" . The premise of the film is the title of this post: What if the devil wanted to repent? I had a lot of fun playing the devil and some may say it was typecasting. :)

An early cut of the film prior to music being added is online for viewing. You will need Adobe Flash Player to play the movie on your computer. Just click on the link and when you see the blue rectangular screen, click on the play (>) button. The film runs about 30 minutes.

We're talking about creating a study guide to accompany the film for use in churches for youth groups and other discussion groups. For those of you who are brave enough to sit through the entire film, I would like your feedback. What I would like to know is:

1. Do you think this film would be appropriate for church use?
2. Would a study guide with the film be a good idea?
3. What do you think about the idea that Mr. Jones raises that evil ultimately leads to good?

I watched it.

1) Appropriate for church use? In general, probably not. For mature dedicated believers, yes, but I think weaker brothers might have some wrong seeds planted by the film.

2) Study guide: mandatory. You watch the film, you do the papers & take part in the discussion.

3) Since Mr. Smith is always a liar, that means that good never comes from evil. God produces the good, despite the evil. Otherwise, God's mercy wouldn't be mercy.

By the way, I loved the film. Cute idea. But Mr. Smith didn't want to repent, of course. He just wanted justice suspended for him.

Bob,

Thanks for your feedback. BTW, it's Mr. Jones, not Mr. Smith. :)

Les - I watched probably the first half, but didn't have time to watch the rest... Sorry.

I wouldn't think this would work in "church". It would work in a smaller group of some sort where there is discussion that clearly pulls the truth about Satan out of this.

I like to see guys like you doing stuff like this.

You don't sound like I thought you would, though :)

Bernard,

So what did you think I would sound like?

Les - I think you actually sound younger than I thought you would, and the mics used seem to leave out some of the lower registers so you sound a little more high pitched than I somehow thought. Part of it's the recording, I'm sure, it's just one of those things, kind of like seeing someone for the first time in the flesh.
