If Land's comments are not clarified, then this is the BIGGEST violation of the BFM 2K since it was approved by the SBC. <BR/><BR/>1. He's walking too close a line on the articles on Church and State.<BR/><BR/>2. He's glossing the most fundamental articles on salvation and the Trinity by trying to be "fair" and "generous" to Mormonism by calling it an "Abrahamic" religion. This is the sort of thing I might expect out the Alliance of Baptists, not the Head of the SBC ERLC.<BR/><BR/>While the "controversy" of the baptism policy and PPL at the IMB rages on and the SBC talks about Resolution 5 (not to be confused with Chanel Number 5) at the 06 Convention, here we have something much more flagrant. At the very least Brother Ed needs to rebuke Land publicly when he gives his NAMB report, since this was said publicly by Dr. Land, something along the lines of "This past year has brought tremendous apologetic challenges as Southern Baptists have interacted with Mormonism. For the record, I want to be clear here, Mormonism is a false religion, a doctrine of demons, and it is by no means an "Abrahamic" religion."<BR/><BR/> This is what you get when you walk the line on the articles on church/state/civil affairs of the BFM too closely. <BR/><BR/>I might also add that the Muslim claim to be an "Abrahamic" religion is equally as false.
